I agree the quality has gone down on Redwing boots. I think they are making more and more of them overseas. I can still get close to two years out of a pair but it is getting harder. I am thinking of trying pair of Danner or White boots the next time around. There are people who can wear any old cheap shoe and get along just fine. If I put on a pair of cheap shoes my feet seem to know it immediately.
A word of warning if you get a pair of Whites, the first week in them is no fun. You’ll feel like you have to relearn how to walk and they aren't comfortable at all until broken in. They’re the best, but don’t expect to like them the first day.
