Subject: RE: Soybean population in drought in ND

NW Iowa. / SW Arizona
I plant on 30” spacing instead of your 10” so this might not apply. When I started farming in 1976 I planted 180,000 on 38” spacing. I bought a new 30” planter in 1979 and kept my population at 180,000. I don’t recall when I lowered my population but planted 150,000 - 160,000 for a LOT of years. I’m currently still on 30” spacing but plant 130,000-135,000. Personally I think your 180,000 population is way too high but I’m not in ND either.

I won’t plant soybean seed without some kind of treatment on it.

Good luck with your decision, we’re very dry here also but I planted all of my crops normally as though the good Lord will give us timely rains. Time will tell.
