Follow-up to yesterday's post...

So, probably 30 out of 48 openers are "loose" and needing replaced. These were new before the 2020 season and we expected them to run through this year. Average blade diameter is now 14.7", in line with a two-year lifespan.

In removing them, we came across the problem pictured below. The bearing and blade are good but the bearing cup has broken. I don't recall seeing this before.

Brother thinks excessive down force...but I'm not sure. I was running 250# in no-till and about half that in minimum till. If I'm not totally mistaken, this is roughly equivalent to the #4 an #2 heavy duty spring positions.

Question: How much down force do you run in no-till? Typical/max? Anyone else destroying bearing cups?
