Here in our ancient, eroded, Appalachian soils, where we might have 12 inches of topsoil, it seems that the coulters just can't be removed. The ground is just too tough on the openers. I've heard for years that the coulters should go, but, I think that advice is coming from no-tillers with 4 feet of topsoil not 4 inches!!!
