I don't think the video was very clear. What I was trying to get across is that when emergence begins you want most of the seedlings to emerge in 24 to 48 hours to get a uniform stand. Sorry about that. What I am seeing so far this year is that areas with dry soil conditions are having uneven emergence which will potentially hurt yield.
What I've found is that it's better to associate gdu to that emergence window. Yes in southern areas with high daily gdu accumulation, if plants don't emerge within 8-12 hours it's a big deal. However in the cool north, a 4 day emergence interval might only be less than 20-30 gdu and isn't a big deal.
