Assuming the 6000 will continue to output NMEA data after it sees the loopback, you should still be able to hook the TX from receiver to the RX on your controller. You controller won't care or know that it's also connected to the RX pin on the 6000. The key here is that the normal harness won't work as the Implement side of the "T" harness probably doesn't have the wires populated on Pin 3 and 10 which means the receiver won't see the loop. With a custom harness it should be able to be done in theory, but this.is assuming the 6000 doesn't do something funky with rx and tx to determine its and implement receiver. Im guessing that it sends some data out the TX and if it receives the same on RX is goes into implement receiver mode, but I could be wrong.
