Subject: Better auger tractor...early 4020 or side console 4020?

West Central Indiana
My neighbor has a 1965 4020 for sale. I’ve been thinking of getting a bigger auger tractor for a 10”-71’ auger and a handier tractor to use as a yard tractor. It has little tires on the front and 16.9”-34’s on the rear. I can operate it from the ground which appeals to me. My dad said he never cared for the early model 4020 he use to have and told me to get a later one that was a side console. My uncle has a 3020 with side console and he says he breaks shear bolts quite often because it is harder to engage smooth like an early 4020.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
