Subject: 148 years of newspapers

ND
Today the last newspaper was printed in Fargo. Granted the forum isn't worth reading, it's an interesting event.

My thought on it all is the parent company (Forum Communications Co) is taking a page from Sears leadership as they have been buying and discontinuing or devaluing and then selling their properties. WDAZ is dead aside from their tower and call sign, as is KMBY and KMCY, WDAY AM is in the process of being sold, WDAY FM was sold, and I know printing plants aren't exactly cheap to idle. They have discontinued quite a few local newspapers too. I will note their advertising rate jumped quite a bit at the same time they said "we can't get advertising due to the pandemic".

I mean their moves would make sense if the local NBC and CBS only had one studio here and the few hundred or thousand news papers in the state were dropping like flies, but they don't and they're not. I mean if those who are bigger, smaller, and about the same size as you can make it work, why can't you?
