Subject: RE: 148 years of newspapers

North Central Illinois
Printed newspapers are going the way of the dinosaurs and it is happening pretty quickly. It is a sad thing too when you look back at what an institution the printed news business has been in this country for well over one hundred years. The whole dynamic of how a newspaper was constructed from the gathering of the news to the delivery of the paper was something of miracle in my eyes. Just the amount of machinery it used to take to produce a mass distributed paper was fascinating. I guess for the dwindling number of printed papers still in circulation it still takes a lot of machinery to produce it. It's just different than it used to be. Unfortunately newspapers are suffering a fate similar to that of libraries and other sources of information. I enjoy the internet just about as much as anyone but the demise of printed news kind of makes me sad.
