Subject: RE: 148 years of newspapers

Wyoming

The irony of this is that plenty of people warned newspaper owners and publishers that this day would come. Once people could get their news online, the value of a newspaper that printed (at most) twice a day (some papers used to have a morning and evening edition) was going to do down dramatically.

Then we warned them that once advertising went online, their days were numbered, and the only advertising they could rely upon was official notices and such.

What we didn't foresee was billionaires buying up newspapers as vanity hobbies - Carlos Slim buying into the New York Times, and Jeff Bezos buying up the Washington Post.

Through it all, newspapers continued to insult their customers, chisel advertisers and hire recently-graduated idiots for their 'talent'. They deserve to be out of business, because they've worked very hard, for a long time, to bring about this outcome.
