Lot compaction from the cattle would likely limit it's effectiveness. Also seems like an invite for regulation as could become a point source for pollution. If you have barn roofs draining towards the lots, you could divert it with gutters and tile drains. Could also look to see if you could shape the low spots to another area outside the lots... infiltration area is what we call them at work - ie bare channel to a man made wetland that helps pull out nutrients.
