Joethefarmer is correct. Build your end sections with your desired gate opening between them without touching what I assume is tight existing fence. Staple all end section posts well, double staple if need be, then leaving enough wire beyon dend sections to rewrap on new end posts. Put gate in section you just cut wire out of, pretty simple.

I thought hard stapling wire to the posts was a no-no. Will hard stapling damage the wire coating?
