Should I wash them off first? I think I’ll try the plier test......:).

Have ya ever fed millet hay Jeff? This stuff was 2019 PP hay. It was harvest very late fall/winter of 2019. I bought 650 bales.......cheaper than straw, but more than cornstalks. Tried feeding stalks several times but the calves always leave trash in the bunks....I hate feeding corn stalks! They’ve been slicking up the bunks with this millet but their stools look like this! Normally plant 40-80 acres of oats or triticale double cropped with sorghum......trying to avoid planting an uninsured crop this year due to our moisture situation.

I've never fed millet hay but we plant and feed plenty of golden German hay millet. I would think millet would be decent feed if you mowed it in the boot stage. We chopped winter triticale once but it was miserable sh!t to pack. I sold 2,000 bales of grass and alfalfa mix last fall, $120 for 2nd cut and $135 for 3rd. Good ticket I thought.
