Agree, that’s why I bought 640 bales of premium alfalfa at year end.....average test was 21% pro and 148 RFV. Protein costs will follow SBM, Modified distillers is up 30% since November. Presently $105 laid in. Purchasing the alfalfa allowed me to keep the inclusion rate of modified at 8%. This millet hay is $65/ton delivered......Bought 650 bales. Bought 235 bales of CRP hay for $65/ton and 135 bales of corn stalks for $50/ton. I’m betting on a drought! I’m in a spot now to plant wall to wall corn (insurance) if we don’t get the soil profile charged come spring.
