Looks to me that the longer you wait to buy land, the more it costs. Despite the looming tax concerns, seems to be more buyers than sellers. Money velocity is low in some sectors but is pretty high in land, stocks, etc. as all the sideline cash looks for anything that will give a return above zero. Yes I agree CPI is a poor measure of inflation for farmers.
Edit here is what I did.....nothing for sale that I wanted close so bought land 15mi away as a hedge. Close enough to farm but not in love with it. Will sell it and trade closer when something comes up. Or simply rent it out, use that cash for renting something closer. |
