Agree.  I would be more concerned about being able to find the parcel I really wanted when you feel your finances are in order.  I would start looking now and if I found something I fell in love with, buy it and borrow the money.  Interest rates are cheap.  Would be better to do this than have the money with nothing to buy. 

Another concern would be what land prices will be in 5 years or so.  What might be a 20% down payment at today's prices might be much less in 5 years.
