Subject: RE: Wheat potential freeze damage

South Central Kansas
Depends on snow cover and condition of the wheat.

Here in south central Kansas we are VERY WET from three rains since the first of the year. Wet is better than dry when it comes to freeze damage. And...........these colder temps came on gradually, not all at once. Mild temps one day followed by drastic drops in temps in a few hours can really damage wheat. Anything here that was trying to green up has had time to harden off as they say.

Farther south in southern Oklahoma and central Texas may be a whole different story. And.......................we had about an inch of snow cover here, snow always helps insulate from the sold. That said, 10 below may certainly thin out some good wheat, well see. It used to get this cold here every winter, so that's that.

My .02 from 50 years of growing wheat FWIW.
