Subject: RE: teach me about attic antennas

northeastern Ohio
My parents house is at a higher elevation than mine. Dad bought one of these cheap antenna's and mounted it on his chimney. Picks up 30 stations without moving it, but it has the option to rotate with a remote control: https://www.amazon.com/Antenna-Amplified-Mounting-Rotation-Support/d...

My house is in the bottom of a valley, so I needed to get my antenna up as high as possible. Here is what I used:

Winegard SW-0012 Gable End Mount for $40: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antenna-Roof-Mount-Kit-Gable-End-Outdoor-Ea...

Winegard 8200 antenna $165: https://www.dennystvantennare.com/winegard-hd-8200u/

ChannelMaster rotor $200: http://dennysantennaservice.com/channel-master-9521HD-tv-antenna-ro...

Mast mounted pre-amp$48 : http://dennysantennaservice.com/channel-master-9521HD-tv-antenna-ro...

Co-ax cable

So for less than $500, I can pick up over 50 stations without turning and an addtional 10-20 more stations when I turn it to specific spots. If you are close to a major city, you might be able to skip the rotor and do it for less than $300. I am about 80 miles from Cleveland and Pittsburgh, so they are fringe for me in the valley. Akron and Youngstown are 30 miles and it doesn't take much to get those stations.

I've heard good things about this antenna that can be used in an attic or on the roof: https://www.dennystvantennare.com/hd-stacker-antenna-vhf-uhf-fm-digi...
