SE Indiana | I have that access panel open right now. I had to open it to pull the top cover off the trans to replace the 5/6 shift fork and the detent ball/spring. It just looked like a headache to drop the trans through the bottom.
I was thinking of sliding the motor and trans out in one piece. There's only 4 engine mount bolts and one trans mount bolt to remove. And the hood/radiator, and a few hoses of course.
I don't have a shop to work in, so I'd have to do everything outside. If I drop the trans straight down, I'd have to figure out a way to slide it out from under the tractor and then slid it back under after the rebuild.
