SE Indiana | I've actually been in touch recently with Mike Beery. I was looking for some 27" rims to run 30.5-32 and ditch the 25.5-32's that are on it. I have the 30.5 tires in the shed but no rims.
I asked about the trans. I thought maybe it was the shift detent not holding the gear in place. He told me it was probably the countershaft gears for 5/6 that need replaced. He was right.
I spent a week sourcing a new shift fork, detent ball and spring. Big tractor parts wanted $500 just for the shift fork and couldn't get the detent items. I managed to get everything for about $125 after searching high and low online.
FYI majority of the part numbers on big tractor parts website for the 1010 are not correct. I finally found an old parts manual online from 1975 that has the correct part numbers. | |
