ND | 450 on Ebay for the enclosure(40 drive bay) and back plane shipped...+whatever is needed to run that(could it be as simple as a SAS extender card in a old PC? I dont know, but if that's it...)
But it's used enterprise, which I dont know alot about.
The idea of organizing somewhat led to this question as...well 50TB is alot to go through.
Otherwise yes that could work, and I do want to raid array it somehow, but I know if I do a raid 6, we'll get a power surge and...take out 2 drives of the same set.
Otherwise I've been you tubing it and reading all about it the last few days as the wind has been miserable...
I know whatever happens here, its going to look so simple once I figure it out, just its alot to learn about in this short amount of time.
I should note that the reason why I have so many 3TB ones is I can get them for roughly $5-$10 a TB from Melroe? MN...so when that kinda cheap compared to say 16TB drives... | |
