Very cool idea, that is something I want to start doing in my area using the radishes but haven't had it work out yet... just an issue of timing on my part.


For the op's question,

The only time Ive ever had a problem with radishes was this past winter. It never got cold enough to kill them or the oats growing along side. It usually takes a couple HARD frosts to really kill them and in my neck of the woods we had only 3-4 cold snaps I think? So all I did was spray my spring burn down, (roundup) and smoked them. It all decayed pretty quick so after a couple weeks there was no evidence left.

My mix was about 2 lbs of radish and 40lbs of oats. I use "feed oats" from the farm store and not "Seed Oats" because they germ just as good as any other name brand oats I've tried.
