Does rain help kernel depth and TW after ear drooping at 1/3 mst line?

I agree. I think I was told corn needs 3” of water at 1/2 starch line. On irrigated corn we want some moisture in the soil profile up to black layer.
But in that situation the ears are still erect. If their dropping like the OP mentioned then I would about bet the circulation of water to the ear has been cut off and there will be no more starch added to the kernels.
