| I do about the same thing on feeding cows. Infact I don't even feed enough cubes to keep them trained. I do not suppliment my cows with protein at all other than hay and I don't make the best hay out there. Just pasture, loose mineral and hay. Went to this about 3 years ago and my cows seem to be performing just as well as ever.
On the ear tags I use to think it was from cows rubbing in round bales but I talk to people who don't feed round bales and they seem to loose way more tags than me. I have lost less than 25% in 3 years, probably closer to 5%. But I do know from now on if I want to keep track of a cow I am going to start tagging both ears. | |
