I agree with the flat cow patties. Depending on hay, 1/ to 1/3 alfalfa hay usually works for me.
I use Boc-lok brisket tags. Lose a few, but not many.
Also neighbors don't use them, so it is easy to spot one of my cows in neighbors. Still use one ear tag. Used to keep 2 ear tage in each cows, but a cow that tears one ear tag out, often tears both out.
