I’ve said it many times (not lately, I retired four years ago) drying corn in 90* temperatures with an efficient dryer and on natural gas is a heck of a lot cheaper than anything the elevator charges. Gas and electric costs rant between 0.3 and 0.5 cents per bushel. Fifteen points drying cost between 4.5 and five cents per bushel. NOT PER POINT! I have too many years records to be wrong about this. If you want to double the cost to include dryer and leg depreciation and maintenance, feel free to do so. | |
