I have been variable rating corn for 12 years. Started with soil maps for areas and 8 years ago went to yield maps. Our soils vary a lot also. Can be 6 soil types in same field. I have topped planting rates at 32000 . I have tried 38000 but was too much ear tip back. My low is 22000. Becks does my planting maps and refined every year but not sure what program they use. It's amazing how much same soil type can vary in yield. I variable rate fertilizer and nitrogen. I started variable rate beans 2 years ago so still evaluating that. Pops from 160000 to 120000. It's amazing how much bean seed we save and better yields. Corn seed amount seems same.
