Coles County, Illinois | I'm a retired Automation Tech with 25 years experience programming a wide array of controllers in many languages. For custom, one off applications a PLC can't be beat as the bottom level controller. Not only are they hardy, one can watch the program operate if one uses ladder logic. Being able to watch rungs execute sometimes eliminates the need for writing alarm logic.
I haven't used Automation Direct's PLC's but I know mainline vendors like Allen Bradley want serious money for their programming software. Another consideration is the cost of SCADA software vrs push buttons. | |
