Dennison, IL | I have had all three types on our corn head at the same time. The opposing knives are junk when they're new for the problems you describe. The calmers are better, but you're grabbing with every other blade with that window so you're still pulling in more trash than the intermeshing. The calmers for sure chop up what they pull through themselves, but the intermeshing bring less trash in and do a fine job cutting the stalk off and grinding it up pretty well. If I order a new head it would have the intermeshing although I think they offer a new style as well. | |
