Subject: RE: Calmer rolls

Lac qui Parle County Minnesota
We went to the calmers about four years ago. We usually would follow up with the DMI afterwards. Last year we were running behind with everything being late. A neighbor has run calmers and always just disked afterwards. He said it looks like it doesn’t do much but was always able to run through it with the field cultivator. I switched and ran over everything with the disk last fall. After we finished, I wasn’t sure how it would work. The calmers really chop up the stalk into silage like confetti. This spring I went in with the field cultivator and really didn’t have any problems at all. The soybeans came up with an excellent stand. I like it so much I’m going to sell my dmi and buy a better disk. I also like that I can run over my corn ground much faster and it’s a lot easy on the equipment.
