Alton, Ia | That's why these phone apps or grain websites that advertise getting your best price will never work. The devil is in the details, always.
Our local grain buyers, for corn:
A: All loads delivered within 30 days from first load, or until 'settled' against a contract, are averaged for moisture, FM, damage and TW. Moisture is to 15% unless on WH receipt, then 14%, any load under 13% is set to 13. Some wet falls, they will throw a temporary upper limit, like 18% and any load above that is not averaged. Doesn't really matter since in a wet fall almost all your corn is high.
C: All loads averaged within 30 days or until settled. MC, Dam, FM & TW.
E: No load averaging, up to 18% accepted, no drying, 1.5% shrink above 15.
F: Loads averaged, within 15 days.
R: 15.9 or less averaged, 16.0+ stands alone. 15 days to settle.
Load averaging around here is very normal, it all goes in the same bin anyway, unless it's really wet. Maybe it's a competition thing because other posters don't seem to have it. I will let you guess which site usually has the highest bid, but you have to know what you are hauling in to be sure.
