If you want to make the investment in the stuff, I'd agree with most of the above. Sickle mower, bar rake and you are in business. I would look for a 530 or 535 Deere round baler before an F Vermeer though, actually before a Vermeer period. The 530 would probably be closer in age to the F. That's a single tie arm on the 530, the 535 you can get net wrap and I'm pretty sure it's double tie arms if it's twine.

Ran a 530 for years, got along great with it. The only negative I've heard on the 535 is that I heard they were a little fire prone. When bearings don't get greased and things get hot though...well...what do you expect? Maybe there was another cause though. Just something to look for.
