I would like to rotate a field into clover or alfalfa next year to give it a break from rowcropping, Problem is trying to figure out how to make money with it. I have enough hay now and don't really like selling hay off the farm, I could buy some stockers and feed it to them , but how much gain can I expect from say alfafa Timothy mixed hay? I can also supplement grain , but just trying to figure if the hay could return a profit or would I be in the hole?
Sell the high quality hay and feed the not that to your beef.
Hay can be quite profitable (note: 'can be' - - - - the quality MUST be there). |
