(Likely far too long and far too detailed a note but you indicated that you would not continue in any debate because you thought you were possibly shouldn't be in it - - - - I disagree that you shouldn't. You adding this information got me thinking even more about forages and ruminants - - - - I think far more forages could be used - - - and aren't. Please disregard if not really interested in this particular thread!)
I appreciate what you have said here. My experience with dairy cattle is milk production is much higher with more highly digestible forages than lower. Basically the rumen can only hold so much feed so the more digestible it is the more milk they will make. When you said to sell the high quality hay my initial reaction was that was wrong because of my experience with dairy. I believe you all that stockers can be fed lower quality feed and they do well. I have learned that I will stay in my lane in the future.
