The plywood works, and its better than a rubber mat. im a tool and die maker by trade and ive tried every boot you can imagine over the last 27 years. Slip on boots on concrete floors are not the best

If you are going to be just wearing them in the shop try a boot by Canada West. The iron worker 8" model style number 34412. Best ive had by far .The best Red Wings would last me 8 months. These have lasted me 4 years wearing them every other day. You should allow your boots to dry out for at least one day . so have 2 pair of boots
