I think the industry will be very different.
The middle will get squeezed and you'll have huge feedlots and small niche guys. Not much in between.
Differentiate or get huge. Not much different than other industries really.
Agreed, it's really already that way in the large feedlot areas.
The only thing that could maybe save the middle, is to get beef on the Govt. Teat like dairy.
System as is, we're done feeding cattle, and should have quit 15 years ago. Don't think any of the things people are crying about with fix anything. 50% cash, MCOOL, etc. etc. Doesn't change the fact that the packers have control.
Think we could maybe make a go with a small packing plant and niche marketing, but at almost 60 years old, i'd rather throw in the towel and enjoy life a little bit before the big dirt nap.
