Madison Co. Virginia | At some basic level, the fake meat and fake milk groups can't compete.
#1, We've got self-replicating meat and milk factories that take in roughage and convert it to useful products. They can't do that.
Our milk and meat production may look very different in 20 years, with likely no grain used, and only grazing land that's not suited for row-crops. But I'm confident that a price balance will be reached, and that price point will still allow considerable cattle production.
#2, If meat and milk look-alikes are going to take over the market, why hasn't the same happened already with Soylent and other concoctions? They make no claim to be the real thing, and consumers don't buy them in any quantity. The only reason that fake meat/milk is selling better, is because they're claiming to be the real deal. Customers will wisen up eventually, and realize there's no point in eating fake concoctions. There's been a recurring shift back to real food every decade or two, and fake meat and milk will not be exempt in future public trends. | |
