Kingston,Mi | Kumatso modified a large pit truck in Switzerland to be 100% battery powered. It goes up the mountain to the mine and on the downhill leg of the trip, uses regenerative braking to recharge the batteries. The article said they sometimes have to discharge some of the battery to the grid to allow the continued use of the regenerative braking function.
If Ford builds an all electric Bronco with a 400 mile range and a decent quick charge, I may be in the market. Furthest I ever drive in a day is 500 miles to Houghton Mi. and I can take a break for dinner and top of the battery. | |
