Subject: RE: Gasoline engine in a combine

NE
Had a 71 Gleaner G with a 6 cylinder gas. Can remember hauling fuel to it in 10 gallon creme cans then graduated to a 100 gal. tank with a hand pump. We had a neighbor that almost got killed pumping gas with an electric pump so my dad said he wouldn’t ever get one for gas, thus the hand pump. The gleaners had that long oval tank on top of the walkers behind the engine. There were several around us at that time and some guys bought a second tank and mounted it behind the first. We traded up to a JD 6620 and I remember thinking we were really going to up capacity. Was a much nicer combine but capacity was about the same.
