North East Wimmera district of Victoria.

Steering wheel start -  yep - seen it done!

Small problem - IF - and it occasionally happened - it fired just before TDC, a Bulldog could run backwards.

This meant that the steering wheel did not sllp out of the 'cam' engaging the crankshaft, and it quickly became a potential missile.!

Also seen a guy who knew the Bulldog well, when it fired in the wrong direction, cut the fuel so it slowed right down, and when it was about to bounce back off the last compression, hit the fuel lever, and voila! it was running the right way!

They later had electric start, but could still fire backwards! Result - put the Bully in reverse to back out of the shed, and go through the wall instead.  TRUE.
