Franklinton, LA | I appreciate your taking the time to make a very good post. This past week I read an article about how the Spanish flu hit this area in 1918. In the fall they shut down the schools until it passed. Several weeks later the schools were reopened and they got hit with the second wave. The second wave was worse than the first.
There are a lot of people in New Orleans who are ignoring the requests to stay at home and avoid crowds. New Orleans now has more CV cases per capita than any other city in the US. The NO death rate is 7X that of New York City. Most of the people who have died are older and had other medical problems. However, a lot of them could have avoided exposure to the virus if their family and friends had followed the stay at home suggestions.
A lot of the people in this area drive about 65 miles to New Orleans for work. Rural Washington Parish now has over 50 cases.
