I guess I don't understand their "endgame."

I see Italy has less new cases, so effectively on the downhill side. Let's say 100k infection, maybe add 25% for asymptomatic, we can even double it, say 200k infected out of 60 million. Let's say we get a month behind us and they are on the tail end, under a lockdown/social distancing strategy.

My interpretation is that when you open the doors you aren't in any different place than you were 45 days ago. I don't know if the experts are scared to tell us that, or if I'm a hick and don't have the data, or if the other 59 1/2 million people became immune over the 45 days. I just can't figure out how this plan can do anything other than drag on and on.

I've tried to study the "data" but I'm afraid our government is showing charts of models. Has anyone seen or heard anything related to what is "supposed" to happen next?
