Texas | A guy was walking down a trail in New Mexico. He happened to turn and see something hunkered down in the shadows. I think his brother said this was after he had gotten back in his pickup that he noticed it. From the description, it sounded as though the brother’s heart rate suddenly sped up. He realized just how close he had walked past something with sharp teeth and an appetite for meat.
A number of years ago I had been hunting a long ways off deep in the woods. You had to walk to get there. This was during bow hunting season for deer. The sun was setting and so I knew it was best to get down out of that tree, pack my gear, and hit the trail. It wasn't long after heading out on the trail, with all that gear strapped to my back, a spine-tingling scream emanated from the ranch immediately to the south. There was too much of a shadow under the canopies of the oak trees across the fence. I could pinpoint the location the terrible scream came from, just couldn’t see what made the sound. Never heard a scream like that before. As I put ever increasing distance behind me on that trail, couldn’t help looking back every now and then to see if an animal would appear.
