The RINS were established as a mechanism to gain market access to a market monopolized by big oil. 50 percent of the gasoline canopies at the time were owned by big oil. Big oil is not going to displace their own product with billions of dollars invested in infrastructure with ethanol. The consumer cannot chose to use ethanol if it is not provided as a choice. The economic hardship was not determined by the quality or competitiveness of the product, but by the scale of the refinery and its geographic location. Haters will always hate ethanol and nothing I can say will change that. Just remember whether we like it or not the consumer is driving the energy market to above ground generation. Below ground carbon fuels are on the way out.

Just a little humor, glad to hear your Prime Minister Justin Pierre James Trudeau has tested negative for the CORVID-19 virus. He is suffering from menstrual cramps and a yeast infection.

So I had never thought about this before.  We raised billions of dollars to build these ethanol plants, why not start doing the same for the ethanol industry to build there own gas stations?  Most people don't actually know the difference anyways.  How would it look to pull into a station and to a pump where the products were defined by the ethanol industry instead of big oil?  Blender pumps, e10, e15, e85.  Call Exxon Mobil up and order the refined gasoline from them.  Is this feasible?  Why not?  Especially if you could consistently create cheaper prices at the pump.
