I didn't watch the segment.
Why I have trouble understanding how this will work, or any driverless vehicles, is auto headlights aren't even reliable. They are overly sensitive or won't dim at the correct time, or dim just from a reflection from a sign etc.
Now, I am sure the autonomous vehicle is a much more comprehensive system, but it seems awfully hard for electronics to adapt to the vast amount of variables out on the road.
I can understand in certain situations where it would be plausible.
Probably just my ignorance.
