Never happen.

Planes have been almost fully automated for years, but there are still pilots even on cargo flights. There is WAY less a chance of hitting anything or being hit in the air, but there are still pilots.

They can want and wish all they want to, but I don't see it happening.


You forgot one thing "gravity". If a driverless truck's computer screws up it just shuts down and runs off the road or dies in the road. When a pilotless plane's computer locks up, gravity takes over and we know how that ends.
