I got a dog from the shelter 3 years ago. She was also an escape artist and her former owner (living in town) gave her up because he couldn't keep her in a fenced yard. I got her, put her in the back yard with my other dog and yep, she started digging out the first night. Never left the premises but we would find her on the front porch every morning/ I finally put a pet hot wire along the lower part of the fence and left it on for a couple of months. She never tried digging out again. I let them out of the yard each morning and shut them up at night.
