north central Ohio | Odd if the guy had no family as you say, rents it too you, passes away and some farming 18 year old gets the property? Why didn’t he rent it to the 18 year old to begin with? Might check into when the guys trust was last changed or written if you can. If everything is as you say that is definitely odd. We were in year one of a five year this year and the lady we rented the farm from pasted away and her husband pasted away last year. The daughter ahead of the etate came and asked us to sign a form to dissolve the lease from their lawyer so they could start the process of selling the farms. Signed it without any questions as they have been very good neighbors and friends over the years. Both in late 60’s when they passed was very susprising. Very good land for our area too. Point being the lawyers felt the lease needed us to sign off on dissolving it before proceeding. Quick call to your lawyer will be well worth the education.
