Subject: RE: Land clearing equipment question

North Central Texas
I'm building a bigger version of what's in the video for a 76000lb machine. We clear a bunch with a 20ton cat. It doesn't matter if it's hardwood, softwood, mesquite, locust, big, small, sand or clay. You learn how to get them out fast. In really dense mature trees with smalls mixed in, it takes about 2 hours an acre. We leave long ears on the sides to catch and windrow. Unless you get into some big nasty rootballs, it's smooth enough to pull a regular disk across it and it's smooth. Thumbs are slow and dozers are too plus a dozer will waller the place out.
