Subject: RE: Land clearing equipment question

Indiana
We have cleared quite a few acres. We are in Indiana so mostly bigger hardwoods, no way I would pull into a job of that size without a dozer AND an excavator. You can do it with one or the other but I would personally be pulling my hair out 10 acres into that job. People saying only a dozer haven't dealt with a 36 inch oak stump before. Having everything clear cut and then chipped helps a lot, then your basically just dealing with the stumps and a little brush. we dig the stumps out and pile with the dozer, we have loaded an old dump truck before to haul stumps to a field edge on longer distances. We have an old CAT 235, for most everything besides clearing its way to big but in stumps its nice to have a big machine like some people stated. Since you have the Skidsteer with the grapple I would buy an older larger dozer to go along with the Hoe! The grapple is much nicer then trying to shove smaller brush up with a dozer.
